Kyrylo Protsenko burns new works in the project "The Exception from the Rules"
The 16th of September, 2010, Thursday - Collection Gallery opens new exhibition season with the project of well-known Kyiv artist Kyrylo Protsenko "The Exception from the Rules."
12 newest works are created using the "firma" author's technique - wood and fire. Protsenko in the full meaning of the word burns the reality that surrounds us, with the help of blowlamp, soviet set "Burner" and veneer sheets.
Among the heroes of the new works there are not only ironical topics like a couple of boys that are trying to find out who's stronger, a huge match that wasn't burned though it was created out of fire and wood, but more serious things - for example, a remake of the famous work of da Vinci "Madonna Litta" with stars-tattoos on the body of new born Christ.
Unpretentious amateur's technique from the previous reality, when everybody could become an artist, in the hands of a real Artist becomes a real weapon. Protsenko creates with the help of things that ruin. He cures with things that can destroy. He burns the things he wants to get rid of out of the collective reality. He feels nostalgic for things that disappear irretrievably.
During that Protsenko reminds, that "every viewer should remember about the right for own opinion".
Kyrylo Protsenko is one of the members of artists' association "Paris Commune" and began to experiment with the fire in the 1995. But there exists no genre where Protsenko hasn't presented himself. Painting, video, sound installations, sculpture. During the co-operation with Illya Chichkan he created the first in Ukraine monument for DJs, shot a film in the USA, presented Hutz and the phenomenon of the group Gogol Bordello to the Ukrainian public, and was the author of the design of the best city restaurants. And all of this while running a great number of group and personal projects not only in Ukraine, but also in Berlin, Milan, Moscow, Venice, Paris…
The opening of the exhibition will take part on the 16th of September at 19.00 in Collection Gallery with the participation of DJ Derbastler.
