"Collection" opens new personal project of the most positive artist Maxim Mamsikov

Kyiv, Thursday, the 12th of November, 19.00 - only the newest works of Maxim Mamsikov, that Kyiv audience haven't seen yet, are included to the new project of the "classic" of modern Ukrainian art Maxim Mamsikov, presented in Collection Gallery of Yuri Kogutyak.
After a big exhibition in Art-Moscow on the Moscow biennale and the successful participation in London auctions Phillips de Pury & Co Maxim Mamsikov unexpectedly returned to small pocket size pieces of art, which he entered as e leader "the new wave" at the beginning of the 90s with. And near them… gigantic canvases with huge balloons-toys, filled with helium.
Daryna Zholdak, the director of Collection Gallery: "With this new project of Mamsikov the gallery begins the new 3-year period of exclusive co-work with the author. Besides this the gallery changes the historic unfairness: the new works from the series "Aeroflora" will be presented for the wide audience for the first time. This series was started 2007 but wasn't presented for the audience because it was completely bought by private collectors from the artist's studio".
In a childish way na?ve but done with an academic quality, this theme is not a simple art, but its pop-artistic symbiosis with the design. The intensity of vivid and bright colors and nearly designer decision of the canvas bear a psychedelic poetics with the effectiveness of pop-art. But it doesn't release the artist's works from an integral metaphysical context.
The "lightened" realism of Mamsikov is as usual not overloaded with the personages, events and details of the space. The works seem to be unfinished - the portrait similarity is absent, there is no detailed showing of emotions. The author seeks the character or mood in a gesture, a position or a movement.
The stories the artist is telling us are not finished. We don't know their beginning, but we are sure that they are taken from our time. The effect of a not completely built bridge foresees that the spectator will build the unshown things with his own hands. These are the things that make the phenomenon of Maxim Mamsikov so interesting. He is one of the founders of a new, independent from the ideology, art, that got into the history under the name "the new wave of 90s" and without which every collection of the modern Ukrainian art is not complete.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on the 12th of November, on Thursday, at 19.00 at the address: Kyiv, vyl. Pankivska, 8, Collection Gallery.
