The exhibition of the laureate of the 1st prize of the 100th Autumn Salon in Paris Kateryna Kosianenko

Kyiv, the 8th of February 2007 - the gallery "Collection" opens the exhibition of art works of a young and already well-known artist Kateryna Kosianenko. The works of Kosianenko combine the richness of baroque Ukrainian icon-painting, figure of secular renaissance European canvases and folk motives. 2003 the artist won the jubilee 100th Paris Autumn Salon. One of the best Parisian galleries Galerie Celine made personal exhibition of Kateryna, and the next year the artist became the Grant of the President of Ukraine.
The exhibition "Anthology" presents 20 the best art canvases from the series "Calendar" and "Shadows of forgotten forefathers". For the first time Kosianenko will present these series altogether, among them the canvas "Pokrova", that among 1000 pretenders from all over the world was awarded with the 1st art prize of the Parisian Salon.
Oleg Baishev, the art director of the gallery "Collection": "The art of Kateryna Kosianenko, leaving the vanity and everyday routine, brings us back into the times of heroes and saints. They go, silently whispering a prayer, go as to the celebration, go towards us".
At the same time the art of Kateryna Kosianenko stays a post-modern phenomenon, where at closer look the traditionalism turns out to be a masterful game. An intellectual provocation is hiding in the tradition. "Ethnic" and "authentic" at the first sight art series brings a mass of "underwater flows", hints, quotations from the history of European art. They play with "classics" of the world art, change the images and interiors, and underline the depth of the European tradition with the help of Ukrainian tradition.
To the end, as one of the most well-known international curators of contemporary art Harald Seemann said: "there s nothing global without local". A catalogue is published to the opening of the exhibition.
The exhibition "Anthology" will last to the 11th of March. The gallery "Collection" is opened every day, except Monday, from 10.00 to 19.00. The press-conference to the opening will take place at 17.30, and official opening - 19.00, on the 8th of February, in Collection Gallery at the address vyl. Pankivska, 8.
