Kyiv, the 11th of November 2011, Thursday - Collection Gallery presents the memorial project "Different Cultures", dedicated to the first year anniversary of death of the famous Ukrainian artist Olexandr Gnylytsky (1961-2009).

The project includes earlier unknown paintings of two generations of Gnylytsky - Olexandr and Ksenia. Gnylytsky show the beauty of the disgusting and approaching the things that repel us - as a way to find the beautiful universe in unexpected places.

Ksenia Gnylytska, the daughter of the artist, took this theme not knowing about the works of her father. This way there appeared series of author's views on the same thing: a viewer will be a witness of the miracle when the verge between the reality and the abstraction is disappearing, when the scale of the things that are seen is changing. The texture of micro-world in macro-view creates the impression of a whole cosmos.

A rotten apple becomes a planet, there are islands in a cup and landscapes of unknown lands bloom on exotic paths. The authors view fungus and mould as a phenomenon, older than mankind, as a part of primary power that can survive everything, even us.

The special event during the project opening will be a presentation of graphics from the picture album of Olexandr Gnylytsky. There is also a plan to publish the facsimile version of the album in limited edition.

The uniting theme of Olexandr Gnylytsky's and Ksenia Gnylytska's art and the presented graphics album is the evanescence of existence. Everything goes away, everything changes - micro- or macro- cosmos is always looped, the end is the beginning, the beginning is the end. Not everything is like it seems to be on the first glance. Something that is dawn to somebody is sunset to somebody else. Everything in this world is temporary, but not beauty…
Ksenia Gnylytska is the representative of the new generation of Ukrainian artists. She is one of the founders of art group "R.E.P.", the participant of curator association "Hudrada". Knenia works mainly as an artist. Her works recently were presented in the project "The ones that came in 2000" (Contemporary Arts Center M 17) and in "R.E.P." group - in a big project "If" (the curator K. Degot) in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Perm, Russia. Simultaneously with the group activity Ksenia personally was noticed on important art-forums like Prague's biennale and was mentioned in the well-known French project "Art of 20 year old ones", that united 20 young artist from all over the world.

The exposition lasts from the 11th of November till the 12th of December in the Collection Gallery, Kyiv, vyl. Pankivska, 8.
