Kyiv, the 30th of October 2008, 17.00 - Collection Gallery presents a new project of the icon of Ukrainian contemporary art - Olexandr Gnylytsky as one of the events of the fair "Art-Kyiv".

The first after a long break personal exhibition of the artist has the name "Modesty and Fat". The heroes of the psychedelic realism of Gnylytsky are at the first sight everyday objects: beads on a table, tap with reflections of somebody's faces, hospital bedside table with the light from beyond, a surface of a mirror… With the help of magic illusionism of a painting that seems to be very realistic he transforms them into weird, mysterious and obscure "things-in-themselves". The author's look also spreads on new monumental landscapes - drops on the window-glass, not finished building outside the city, dramatic sky before a shower … The author articulates for the audience all that important things the everyday routine couldn't.

Olexandr Gnylytsky, who made himself known at the end of the 80s, was the founder and the leader of the key art streams - "southern wave", "Paris commune ", "Institute of unstable thoughts". Nowadays he is one of the art leaders of Ukrainian trans-avant-garde. It was the project of Olexandr Gnylytsky that presented Ukraine as a part of the official program during the last year biennale in Venice. Gnylytsky loves unexpected experiments with different media, and, according to words of Olexandr Solovov, is the least predictable artist in the Ukrainian art process.

Olexandr Gnylytsky: "Art must be beautiful as a blond girl. But art, like every blond girl, suffers from a problem: to be not only beautiful but also smart". Daryna Zholdak, the director of Collection Gallery: "We are proud of the fact we began the co-work with the unique unsurpassed master of Art. It's the first such a big project of Gnylytsky in Ukraine after a long pause. After the ending of "Art-Kyiv" on the 14th of November we will open the second part of the project with the works of other formats in the gallery "Collection" and present the new catalogue of the whole series "Modesty and Fat".

This year" the exhibition of Olexandr Gnylytsky is considered to be the central event of the fair "Art-Kyiv. But Collection Gallery presents its own stand on the "Parade of the galleries". Such works from the collection of the gallery will be presented there: the pictures from the series "U. Be.Ka" of Oleg Tistol, new works of Olexandr Roitburd, famous photographer Anton Solomukha and other authors. To the audience's attention there are catalogues, dedicated to such famous projects of the gallery as "Bloomsday. The Ideal Age" etc.
