Collection Gallery continues the theme of ideal age of an artist, this time addressing the generation of the authors that was formed in the 90s. The second part of the project "The Ideal Age" presents 8 famous artists - Wasyl Tsagolov, Sergiy Bratkov, Sergiy Zarva, Wasyl Gusev, Illya Isupov, Stas Volyazlovsky, Dmytro Dulfan and Juriy Solomko. 8 works and 8 texts-reflexions fix the state of an author in the age that the famous post-modernist James Joyce named "the ideal age". Unlike the first part of the project, presented last year in Collection Gallery, this time the main instrument is not only art, but also the video "Gagarin-2" - by Sergiy Bratkov, and the sculpture object "Talk to me, Earthman!" - by Dmytro Dulfan. But almost every author addressed one or another public person in the theme "The Ideal Age", like, for example, Sergiy Zarva in the title work "Julya", or Stas Volyazlovsky in the work of art "An Non Spiritus Existent?", that is why the project creates an idea not only of the artist in the bloom point, but also the portrait of the society through the personages that influence it and that is how create it.
Oleg Baishev, the curator of the project: "The Ideal Age" - is a project, that went outside a simple art event, simple exhibition. The texts of the artists bear the portrait of the country itself. Analysis, evaluations - not always pleasant, but always true, experienced inside. This is the document, according to which in the future people will learn not only about the art of Ukraine but also its history."
Daryna Zholdak, the director of Collection Gallery: "The authors of the project are famous artists and are in the bloom of fame and their possibilities - it's the peculiarity of the project "The Ideal Age", the gallery is interested in. The second project also got an interesting geographic accent, very actual in the search of identity in the ?poque of globalization: it is impossible to imagine the modern Ukrainian art without Odessa citizens and famous Kharkiv citizens or without those who was born or became famous outside Ukraine. We are creating a full-sized catalogue and think, that this project is representative. We are sure that we will manage to make it Ukraine's trademark abroad."
Bloomsday - is an international festival for the followers of Joyce that starts on the 16th of June every year and gives different culture institutions the possibility to realize art and literature projects. Leopold Bloom, the main hero of the novel "Ulysses ", is not accidently compared to Odysseus of Homer. To Joyce's mind Odysseus is whole, ideal hero in the world literature. First of all, he was interesting to Joyce because of the completeness of the life experience, that the artist has to put into words. Joyce managed to create an ideal hero. Collection Gallery addresses his ideal age.
